Hi! I'm Brie. I love sharing resources online because I know finding special education materials can be SO difficult! (You can also find me sharing functional, life skill materials over at Breezy Special Ed)
I helped start a small special needs ministry at my church, currently consisting of four children in a self contained Sunday School classroom, and a few kids who have buddy support in our regular Sunday School program. We started using a curriculum made for kids with special needs by LifeWay (sorry I can't find the info on their website), which was amazing with a ton of materials, but the kids we had weren't that into the materials and it took twice as long to prepare the materials as it did for the kids to do the activities (or not end up doing them at all), so we had to look at something else. We tried to adapt what they were learning about in the typical Sunday School class, but it moved too fast and I felt like we weren't teaching important core concepts.
We have now been using the Play-n-Worship curriculum for a few months now, and it is going well. I love that the activities included don't have a ton prep work involved, the concepts are clear and important. And the repetition is great! We learn one story for an entire month, which allows students to repeat activities they enjoyed, and really spend some time learning the story.
I created this site in order to share the resources that I have made so hopefully we all don't have to re-invent the wheel!
Sooooo, why does this page say "Meet Us" when it's just me? I'm hoping you will join me! Have you been creating amazing resources for your special needs ministry? Would you also like to share those so others can help teach kids about God? Email me for more information! All you need to do is upload your resources online (such as google docs) and send me the folder link. (You can easily do this by uploading an entire folder to google drive!) I will then link everything to the appropriate pages! And I would hope you would share a little bit about your ministry on this page as well. Thanks in advance for considering to share your resources with others.
May God bless you as you continue to bless individuals with special needs!
