Jesus is Born - Christmas Nativity Lessons

It's December and time to talk about Jesus's birth! What a wonderful time and such a great story for our kids to learn. There are SO many different resources out there to help teach about Jesus's birth, but here's a few of my favorite for kids with special needs.

Christmas Story Adapted Book:
I love this Christmas emergent reader book offered as a freebie from Let's Learn S'More. I easily made it into an adapted book by cutting out pictures from the second copy of each page to laminate and add to the book with Velcro. When kids read, they have to match each picture to the page. This is a great way to give purpose to reading stories and make them interactive for our special needs kids!

Symbol Supported Verse - Luke 2:14
I like to print out two copies, laminate both and cut out the pieces on one to Velcro to the other. We like to "hide" the pieces around the room and have the kids grab all of the pieces to then put together on the verse board. We take turns saying and repeating the verse.

I also print out grayscale copies of the verse to have students color or cut apart and then glue in the correct order on a separate piece of paper.

Jesus is Born Activities:
We are currently using the Play N Worship curriculum (amazon affliate link). I love that it provides a simple story, prayer, and hands on activities. It's not perfect and I do have to create additional activities (like the ones above) but I like it!

Coloring Pages:
You can find a ton with a simple Google search! These ornaments also much a fun (and easy) craft/coloring activity.

Please feel free to share any other activities you have planned in the comments! Merry Christmas!
